Wikipedia description:

Jack Leon Ruby (born Jacob Rubenstein; c. March 25, 1911 – January 3, 1967) was an American nightclub owner. He murdered Lee Harvey Oswald two days after the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1911, Ruby operated nightclubs in Texas. On November 24, 1963, two days after the assassination and death of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas, Ruby shot and mortally wounded Oswald, the accused assassin of President Kennedy, in the basement of the Dallas Police Headquarters, and was immediately arrested for the crime. The shooting and crime was captured and broadcast on live television. Ruby, in March 1964, was convicted and sentenced to death for his crime of killing Oswald. The conviction was overturned on appeal in 1966, and Ruby was granted a new trial, but he fell ill, was diagnosed with cancer, and died of a pulmonary embolism on January 3, 1967. In 1964, the Warren Commission concluded that there was no evidence Jack Ruby was part of a conspiracy; however, despite this, Ruby's killing of Oswald has stoked John F. Kennedy assassination conspiracy theories.
