Bitton-Jackson was deported to Auschwitz at age 13, where her father died two days before liberation while her mother, brother and she survived. Immigrated to the U.S. in 1951 where she earned her Ph.D. and was a professor of Hebrew and Judaic Studies at various universities and dean of students at Hunter College. Lives in Israel)
