- Miami University Libraries digital collections, viewed online December 4, 2018 :A memorial to Edgar Ewing Brandon (born in York Springs, Pa., Aug. 9, 1865; received his A.B. from the University of Michigan in 1888, and his Master's Degree from the University of Missouri in 1897; he was awarded a doctorate from the University of Paris in 1904; taught at the University of Michigan and University of Missouri before coming to Miami University in 1898 as Professor of Romance Languages; he was named Vice-President of the university in 1908 and assumed the duties as President 1909-19; appointed Dean of the College of Liberal Arts in 1911; continued the administrative duties of Vice-President of the University and Dean of the College of Liberal Arts until retiring in 1931; he was the author and editor of many textbooks for college French courses and wrote in French "A short history of the United States" in 1919; also author of the four volume set titled " Lafayette, guest of the nation")
