- Kentucky encyclopedia, ©1992:pages 72-73 (Issac Wolfe Bernheim, a distiller, born in Schmieheim, Germany, November 4, 1848; Immigrated to the U.S. in 1867 where he lived in Paducah, Ky. and with his brother Bernard, established a distillery which later moved to Louisville. Was a philanthropist, donating the funds for Kentucky's Bernheim Forest which opened in 1950 as well as several other memorials and buildings. Moved to Denver, Colorado; died in Santa Monica, Calif. April 1, 1945)
