המדור לתיעוד בעל פה של מכון המחקר ליהדות זמננו ע"ש אברהם הרמן באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים

MG was born in Germany in 1932, to a wealthy prominent family. Her first nanny was gentile and dismissed due to an edict which prohibited Jewish families from hiring women under age 45. In 1937, the family hastily moved to Holland for refuge. There they were resented by the Dutch Jewish community. At the age of 8, they went into hiding in the attic of a Gentile family. She and a half sister played postman, school, read and exercised by reaching to the pins of the ceiling. The family survived in hiding and they eventually came to America. At the time of the interview, she is a practicing psychiatrist planning to work on the Holocaust project giving direction and guidance to staff. MG is married with one daughter and her mother is elderly. MG points out that the Nazis not only physically eliminated Jews but invaded their family relationships. They were demoralized to such a point, where a mother of 2 children would have to choose which one she wanted to live.
