| Description |
Oppenheimer (1886-1941) was an expressionist artist who was born and lived in Köln. Before World War I, she was active in artistic circles, promoted modern art and exhibited her works in Germany and abroad. After the war she suffered a breakdown and was institutionalized. Her husband, Adolf Worringer, who was not Jewish, divorced her in 1936 (perhaps to protect himself and their two sons). In 1941, Oppenheimer was deported and murdered in Majdanek.
