חיים אמיתי, שחקן תיאטרון, מחזאי ומתרגם, נולד בשנת 1898 בוילנה, ליטא ונפטר בישראל בשנת 1973. ארכיונו נאסף ונשמר על ידי יהודה גבאי. אמתי היה חבר בסגל השחקנים של תיאטרון האהל ובשנת 1932 הצטרף לתיאטרון הבימה. הארכיון כולל תצלומים, פריטי חולפות, עיתונים, מסמכים אישיים ומנהליים ואסופת טקסטים שנאספו לאורך כל פעילותו המקצועי במוסדות השונים.
