a) an autograph letter of four pages written to "mon cher ami" [on 8 October 1847] concerning the passing of Alexandre Brongniart.;b) an autograph letter of one page written to Le Moniteur on letter paper of the "Cabinet du Ministre de l'Agriculture et du Commerce" correcting an error in a nomination for a position in London.;c) an autograph letter of one page written to "Monsieur le président" on 28 March 1857 excusing himself for having been absent in a session of the senat due to private reasons.;d) an autograph letter of one page written to "Monsieur le président" on 22 February 1858 excusing himself for having been absent in a session of the senat due to illness.;e) an autograph letter of one page written to "Monsieur le Préfect", no place and date, recommending his nephew Adolphe Brongniart.;f) an autograph letter of three pages written to "Géneral" concerning Paul Brongniart.;g) an autograph letter of one page written to "Monsieur le Maréchal", no place and date, recommending Mercadier.;h) an autograph letter of one page written to "Monsieur le Gouverneur", no place and date, concerning a report Dumas had made on the law of drainage.;i) an autograph note of one page written to "Monsieur", no place and date, asking to forward a message.;j) an autograph letter of three pages written to "Monsieur le Ministre", no place and date, recommending the tax collector Bartholomé to a minister.;k) an autograph letter of one page written to "Monsieur de Beville, Prefect du palais des S.M." recommending Velat.

Biographical summary
Jean Baptiste André Dumas (1800-1884), French chemist, best known for his works on organic analysis and synthesis, as well as the determination of atomic weights, minister of agriculture and commerce for a few months in 1850–1851, and subsequently became a senator, president of the municipal council of Paris, and master of the French mint, all under Napoleon III.
