Biographical summary The Associazione Pro Israele was founded in 1916 by non-Jewish Italians in order to support the rights of Jews and the Zionist movement. Operated mainly in Milan, Rome and Florence until 1920. The founder and secretary of the Association was Elga Ohlsen
his presidents were Pietro Bonfante, Giovanni Colonna Di Cesarò, Francesco Arcà.
Ownership history The materials were collected and stored by Elga Ohlsen, the association's secretary and were permanently deposited in the National Library in 1931. They were transferred from Italy by the Friends of the National Library.
