Description

Assi Dayan (1945-2014), a director, a movie actor, a screenwriter, a chorister and a publicist, a painter, an author and a poet. Since the 1960s, Dayan is considered as one of the most renowned Israeli filmmakers, as well as one of the most famous Israeli film and television actors. His archive includes personal documents, honorary certificates, photographs, correspondences, scripts, poems and prose by Assi Dayan, as well as articles about him and his family.

Biographical summary
אסי דיין נולד בנהלל ב-1945, כבן הזקונים של רות ומשה דיין. היה במאי קולנוע, תסריטאי, שחקן, סופר, צייר, משורר, פזמונאי ופובליציסט. מאז סוף שנות השישים נחשב דיין לאחד מאנשי הקולנוע הישראלים החשובים ביותר, וכן לאחד מהשחקנים הבולטים בקולנוע ובטלוויזיה בישראל. בין הסרטים הבולטים שכתב וביים: "גבעת חלפון אינה עונה", "החיים על פי אגפא", "שמיכה חשמלית ושמה משה" ו"מר באום". דיין זכה בפרסים רבים על סרטיו, בהם פרס אופיר על מפעל חייו. הוא נפטר ב-1 במאי 2014 ונקבר בנהלל.
