Text on the back -53876-377;Production period - UNKNOWN;Front Period - UNKNOWN;Category - Jewish quarter;Description - This horizontal postcard depicts a photograph of the Jewish Commerce Street of Tétouan. It is apparently situated in the Juderia which means 'Jewish quarter' in Spanish. The Jewish community of Tétouan has the particularity to be entirely Sephardi and Spanish speakers because the city of Tétouan, after its destruction by the Spaniards in 1399, was rebuilt in the end of the 15th century thankful to the arrival of Jews and Muslims, fleeing from the Inquisition. We can see therefore some signs written in Spanish like 'Venta De Tabacos' (Selling of Tobacco). There is also an Hebraic sign on the right side. The street is empty with a several people, dressed with traditional clothes. [S.H]
