Front Text - EAS 2479/3;Production period - 1st quarter of 20th century;Category - Religious life;Description - A vertical photograph depicting two elderly men rolling the Torah Scroll before placing it back in the Aron Hakodesh (the Ark) standing on the right. They are dressed in Tallit (prayer shawls) and Kittles (white robes worn Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur). This is the Gelila custom (rolling up the Torah Scroll). The scene is staged and is held in a photographer's studio rather than in a real synagogue. A greeting for the new year in Hebrew and Hungarian appears on top whil at the bottom of the format the letters EAS in a small heart stand for the publisher's name E. A. Schwerdtfeger & Co. and a serial number of the postcard[M. J.];Back Description - A divided back.;Back Handwritten Text - 40;Back Remarks - The number 40 is written in pencil by the collector.
