Piyut Interpretation

  • • חַג לְאוּמִי – השימוש בביטוי 'לְאוּמִי' משקף את היותו של המחבר פעיל בתנועת חיבת ציון ואת זיקתו לציונות ולרעיון הבית הלאומי לעם היהודי.
    • בִּקְהַל אֱמוּנַי – כינוי לעם ישראל, קהל המאמינים בה'.
    • מִי כָמוֹךָ בָּאֵלִים ה' – שיבוץ הלקוח משירת הים (שמות ט"ו), אותה שרו משה ובני ישראל כשבח והלל לה' אחרי קריעת ים סוף והינצלותם מיד מצרים.
    • הַגֵּאָיוֹן – הגאה, הבטוח ברום מעמדו ובכוחו.
    • שַׁמָּה וּשְׁאִיָּה – מלים נרדפות המבטאות הרס וחורבן. הצירוף לקוח מישעיהו כד, יב: נִשְׁאַר בָּעִיר שַׁמָּה וּשְׁאִיָּה יֻכַּת-שָׁעַר.
    • גְּאוֹן הַפָּרִיץ לָאָרֶץ הִגִּיעַ – הפריץ – הוא יון – הורד ארצה מגאון עוזו ומעמדו.
    • אֶת שְׁאוֹן זָרִים מַתִּתְיָה הִכְנִיעַ – מתתיה הכניע את האויב והמולתו. מיוסד על הפסוק בישעיהו כה, ה: בְּצָיוֹן שְׁאוֹן זָרִים תַּכְנִיעַ; חֹרֶב בְּצֵל עָב, זְמִיר עָרִיצִים יַעֲנֶה.
    • אֶת שֵׁם ה' כִּבְּדוּ בָּאוּרִים – היהודים הדליקו את מנורת הזהב בבית המקדש. מיוסד על הפסוק בישעיהו כד, טו: עַל-כֵּן בָּאֻרִים כַּבְּדוּ ה'; בְּאִיֵּי הַיָּם שֵׁם ה' אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.
    • נֵצַח יִשְׂרָאֵל אַל תָּמִישׁוּ מִלֵּב – קריאה לזכור תמיד את ה', המכונה כאן נצח ישראל. מקור הכינוי בדברי שמואל לשאול: וְגַם נֵצַח יִשְׂרָאֵל לֹא יְשַׁקֵּר וְלֹא יִנָּחֵם כִּי לֹא אָדָם הוּא לְהִנָּחֵם (שמואל א טו, כט).
