Woodcut בגשר היבשתי בשוליים התחתונים של המפה, המקשר בין דרום מזרח אסיה לאפריקה, יש התייחסות מרומזת ראשונה המופיעה על מפה מודפסת לגילויי קולומבוס. ("כאן אין יבשה כי אם ים ובו איים שאינם ידועים לפתולימיאוס") מיקום הכיתוב מתאים לאמונתו של קולומבוס שגילה איים ליד חופי אסיה [ידועים היום בשם איי הודו המערביים ומצויים בסמוך ליבשת אמריקה]. לחלופין ייתכן שמרמז לגילוי הדרך הימית להודו. המפה הראשונה הכוללת סימון קווי אורך ורוחב. פעם ראשונה שייצוג רוחות השמיים מופיע כפרצופים מסוגננים וייחודיים, (ולא ככרובים כפי שנעשה עד אז) באחת הדמויות (הרוח הצפון מזרחית וולטרנוס Vulturnus/Vulternus) מוצאים את הייצוג הראשון בדפוס לשימוש במשקפיים.
