הטבילה במקווה ושמלת החתונה - ביום שלפני החופה, נהגה הכלה ללכת למקווה (בספרדית יהודית: bano de la novia), כשהיא מלווה על ידי נשים ממשפחתה. הנשים הביעו את התפעלותן ממעלותיה של הכלה, אמרו ברכות ושרו שירים הולמים. הכלה הביא אל המקווה את החפצים הנחוצים לה: tovall או maraman (מגבת), burnu con mangas (חלוק בעל שרוולים), Javon (סבון), enjavonadora (מטלית רחצה), boneto או chapeo de bano (כובע רחצה), galechas (קבקבי עץ), peine de peinar (מסרק צפוף). החתן שלח את החפצים האלה בצרור הקרוי bogo de bano. אבי החתן שילם עבור טבילת הכלה במקווה; אם האב לא היה בין החיים, המשלם היה אחיו הבכור של החתן. הכלה זכתה לפינוק על ידי מעסות (telekas). גבותיה נמרטו בעזרת משחה מיוחדת (pelador או pilo) וידיה נצבעו ב- aljena. באיזמיר נהוג היה להביא לטקס הטבילה במקווה עוגייה עגולה (המוכרת גם בספרד בשם la rosca de la novia). את העוגיה נהגו לשבור מעל ראש הכלה. באזחורים אחרים הוגשו ממתקים לנשים שליוו את הכלה למקווה. כשהכלה יצאה מהמקווה, נתנו לה משקה מתון "כדי שכל חייה יהיו מתוקים גם הם (que sea dulce la vida entera). זהו שיר מצטבר ומסובך, אשר נשען על מוטיבים ספרותיים עתיקים. כל בית מביא דימוי חדש המתאר חלק בגופה של הכלה, ואז מושמעים שוב כל הדימויים הקודמים בסדר הפוך. גרסה זו מוצאה מאיזמיר "אלה דבריה של כלתנו: איך נקרא לראש הזה? אין זה ראש אלא שדות רחבים. אל שדותיי הרחבים, תעלוז הכלה עם החתן. אלה דבריה של כלתנו: איך נקרא לשיער זה? אין זה שיער אלא חוטי זהב לאריגה. אל חוטי הזהב לאריגה, אל השדות הרחבים, תעלוז הכלה עם החתן". בחרוזים הבאים המצח הוא חרב מבריקה, הגבות הן קשתות לירייה, העיניים הן שקדים למאכל, והלחיים הם תפוחים. כל בית נגמר בברכה "תעלוז הכלה עם החתן". -- מתוך התקליטור Judeo-Spanish songs for the life cycle in the Eastern Mediterranean |
