Notes Photograph is printed in a book with a description beneath
printed description: "(Acts, xxi:15.)--'And after those days we took up our carriages and went to Jerusalem.' -- Acts, xxi: 15. Paul went up to Jerusalem at this time to see the Elders, and to give them some account of his ministry among the Gentiles. As he went up from the seacoast it is probable that he entered through the gate in the western wall. In the above view we are looking at Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, which is to the east of the city. We see the extreme northern part of the city. The wall which begins at the extreme left of the view is above the golden gate, hence the site of the temple does not appear. It is about two miles and a half all around the walls of Jerusalem. The city is entered by about seven gates. These were formerly closed at night, but for the last few years they are kept open night and day." See 5389BAI/LVii115CAJS (Voyager # 362210).
