Enlarge text Shrink textA copy of the exlibris held by the artist's daughter, Miriam Morris, has an attached paper on the reverse side of the frame, typed in German by the artist. It says: "Artist: David Friedman 7545 Lynn Ave., St. Louis, Mo, 63130 Diese Exlibris, oder Bücherzeichen radierte ich im auf Kupfer in Auftrage des Bankier Hermann Susskind ["] im Jahre 1920 in Berlin in einer Auflage von 1000 Blatt. Durch ein zufälliges Wiedersehen in Tel Aviv in Israel im Jahre 1950, erhiellt ["] ich das umseitige Blatt zur Erinnerung." Translation: This ExLibris or bookmark was etched on copper and ordered in an edition of 1000 pages by the banker Hermann Süsskind in the year 1920 in Berlin. Through a coincidental meeting in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1950, I received this overleaf page for remembrance. We thank Miriam Morris for supplying us with this information and with web links below.
