Title JERUSALEM IS THE BIGGEST.
Scope and content This month Jerusalem celebrates 25 years as a united city. To coincide with the anniversary the Jerusalem Institute of Israel studies has released a study to show how the city has changed since the reunification following the Six Day War. The city is now the largest and most populace city in Israel with 545,000 inhabitants, 72% Jewish and 28% Arab. The city has been establishing new residential areas such as Ramot, Talpiot and Pisgat Ze'ev to accommodate the growing population. All together about 132,000 Jews now live in the part of the city that was occupied by Jordan before 1967. One cause of concern is the fact that many young people are leaving the capital as they feel there is more opportunity in places like Tel-Aviv and its surrounding city. Photo shows: The picture shows the neighborhood of Ramot, north-west of Jerusalem which is one of the fastest groving parts of Jerusalem.
