RUSSIAN IMMIGRANTS GIVE AUDITIONS. |
---|---|
Scope and content |
Many of the new immigrants who have arrived in Israel from Russia over the past year have many interesting talents. It was said that with the new immigration it was possible to establish at least four new symphony orchestras, such was the variety of musical talent that was coming from Russia. The Israel Trade Union Federation, the Histradut, had an idea to arrange a series of auditions in Tel-Aviv for Russian immigrants. In collaboration with Education Ministry the Beit Lesin Theatre invited theatrical and musical agents from all over Israel to listen to classical musicians, pop musicians, singers and comedians. It was hoped that if some of the agents saw something worthwhile they would try and give the immigrant a chance to use his talent. Photo shows: The picture shows a new Russian immigrant waiting his turn to play the accordion at Beit Lesin Theatre in Tel-Aviv. |
