"ספור פרשת חיים של ילד יהודי בן ארבע ממשפחה חילונית, הארי קלאוזנר, הנמלט עם אמו ואחותו מגרמניה הנאצית. הם מוסתרים בעליית גג בבית איכרים נוצרים-פרוטסטנטים, השייכים למחתרת ההולנדית. במסתור לימדה אותו אחותו את המילים היחידות בעברית שידעה: שמע ישראל, תשרי, חשוון, כסלו - כדי שיזכור שהם יהודים... לאחר המלחמה המשפחה מתאחדת עם האב הנמצא בישראל. הארי מתמודד עם קשיי הקליטה בחברה הישראלית- מתל-אביב עובר לקבוץ, למושב ומשם לכפר הנוער 'הדסים' והופך לאריה עוז, טייס חיל האוויר וקברניט 'אל-על', שהשתתף במבצעים רבים אשר חלקם הפכו לספרים וסרטים וחלקם לא יסופרו. אהבתו למטוסים ולתעופה הפכה אותו לחלק חשוב במסע שעשו מערך התובלה של חיל האוויר הישראלי וחברת התעופה הלאומית של ישראל. זהו ספור על כוח רצון, התמודדות, אומץ ושאפתנות אך מעל לכול ספור של אהבה משפחתית, אהבת אנוש, אמונה וגבורה של נפש האדם".
