Memoirs of a Jew from Lvov, born in 1908. Pt. 1 (pp. 15-90) describes his experiences in Auschwitz from August 1943. Weinberg was one of a group of men who made great efforts to help fellow prisoners; he himself was severely punished after he fought with the head of his block in order to protect another inmate. Pt. 2 (pp. 93-165) relates experiences in Auschwitz as well as earlier experiences. Weinberg managed to escape from a massacre near Lvov in March 1942, from the Janowska labor camp, and from a train transport to Bełżec before he was deported to Auschwitz.
