Relates the activities of the Polish underground organization Żegota, founded in autumn 1942 in Warsaw with the aim of helping the Jews. Discusses the organizations founders and leaders, among them Zofia Kossak-Szczucka, Julian Grobelny, Władysław Bartoszewski, Witold Bieńkowski, as well as Jewish members of the Commission such as Leon Feiner and Adolf Berman. The members of Żegota came from various political orientations. The activities were mainly financed by the Polish government-in-exile in London. Surveys the activities of various departments of the Commission, mainly the fabrication of "Aryan" documents, finding places of hiding, medical assistance, and financial help. A special department, headed by Irena Sendlerowa, helped Jewish children. About 2,500 children were saved in adoptive families, convents, orphanages, and other places. In 1943 there were organized Żegota branches in Kraków and Lvov. Includes the texts of documents related to the activities of Żegota.
