Born 04/28/1926, Halberstadt. 6 ½ years primary school. 1939 emigration to England, 1940 to Palestine. Attended Yeshiva. His general knowledge is autodidactic. Ph.D. about Freud. Today Rabbi. Life in Germany and origins of family: with children transport to England in 1939 (with 4 siblings), one year later to Israel. Parents followed in 1940. Father from Vienna, mother from Halberstadt. 1929-1939 the family lived in Munich. Memories of Hindenburg's death in 1933. Political understanding already as a child. About the origin of the name Pappenheim. Ancestors were all orthodox but no rabbis in the family, only sales men. Wife from Hungary/Romania. Orthodoxy in the family and its influence on education.
