Born in Lodz, 1917. Attempt by Polish army to leave Polish Jewish recruits in USSR rather than transfer them to Teheran. Decision reversed by Soviet Jewish high officer in Teheran. Discharge of Jews from Polish army due to antisemitism, then reinstated after affair publicized in "Life" magazine. Two years stay in Kibbutz Naan. Anders' Army people not absorbed completly: neither allowed to participate in guard duty nor recruited by Hagana.
