Description
סדרה זו כוללת...;The series contains texts written by other authors and collected by Berdichevsky. It reflects his interest in a variety of topics in Jewish studies, ancient history, philosophy, the Samaritans and the Karaites. Among the texts is a very large group of German "Schulprogramme", yearly reports written by the directors of higher educational institutions between 1814 and 1909. These have, as supplements, brief studies by the school staff or by the director himself. In the group in this series, only the supplements were collected; they deal with classical studies, ancient history and religions, philosophy and biblical studies from a Christian viewpoint. Since about half of them date to a time when Berdichevsky was too young to have collected them and two of them indicate that they once belonged to Karl Nägelsbach (1806-1859) and one to Samuel van Straalen (1845-1902), it is likely that Berdichevsky received them from someone else. Other writings in this series are offprints from various publications and articles that were cut from periodicals or print proofs, in some cases Berdichevsky added the text of pages that had been missed by hand. Many of these cut articles come from issues of Ha-Shiloah, Ha-Goren and Ha-Olam. Most were bound in paperboard covers and labeled in handwriting. Also in this series are press clippings taken from Hebrew and German newspapers, grouped by topic and arranged in paperboard folders, and groups of handwritten notes, arranged in the same way.
