האגודה הוקמה בשנת 1957. בשנת 1959 קיבלה אישור מעיריית פתח תקווה למבנה הקבע ברחוב ברקוביץ בפתח תקווה. מטרותיה: ליווי החייל מיום גיוסו לצה"ל, דאגה לשיפור תנאי חייו, בידור, הקמת מועדונים ועוד. זאת באמצעות אירוח קבוצות חיילים, שיפוץ מועדונים, מכירת כרטיסי הגרלה, תצוגות אופנה ובזאר, חוג לתנ"ך למתנדבים, ביקור בבסיסים וחלוקת שי בערבי חגים. חלק מיושבי הראש של האגודה למען החייל בפתח תקווה : הניה מלאכי, דוד בן עזר, יצחק עופרי
