Biographical summary The documents in this fonds were described in great detail as part of the research carried out by Prof. Yaron Ben-Naeh of the Hebrew University's Jewish Studies department. The research was supported by the Israel Science Foundation (1350/07ISF). The research took place between 2009 and 2013 and was published by Ben-Naeh in a paper entitled, " The Sassoon Family: Jewish Magnates between East and West in the Nineteenth Century". Prof. Ben-Naeh located the oldest documents in the archive and described each one, including details, among others, about the writer, the recipient, the date and the place where the document was written. The full records that were the result of Prof. Ben-Naeh's research were transferred by him to the National Library in November 2017. These records were divided up into 400 files that were arranged according to the names of the writers and addressees. All the information collected during the research was preserved and is now accessible.
