אוגוסטו יואל לוי (1975-1888), משפטן ופעיל בתנועה הציונית באיטליה. עלה ארצה ב-1938. שימש מרצה למשפטים באוניברסיטת תל אביב ובאוניברסיטה העברית וכיהן בתפקיד נשיא התאחדות התעשיינים בישראל. הארכיון כולל מסמכים אישיים, התכתבות, חומרים ביוגרפיים ותצלומים. בארכיון גם מכתבים שנשלחו אל בנו, רנטו לוי.

Biographical summary |
Augusto Yoel Levi was born in Ancona, Italy, in 1888 and studied law in Modena. He fought as a rank and file soldier in the Libyan War (1911-1912) and later as an officer in the First World War, during which he was wounded and decorated with the Cross of Merit. After the war he was appointed judge and then legal consultant in Florence. Levi joined the Zionist movement in Italy, and became President of Keren Hayesod and the Italian Zionist Federation. He participated in the Zionist congresses in Lucerne (1935) and Zurich (1937). In 1938, due to the racial laws, he emigrated to Palestine together with his family and became involved both in academia and in industry. He taught commercial and private law at the University of Tel Aviv and at the Hebrew University, and published numerous books and articles on these subjects. From 1942 to 1963 he was chairman of the legal department of the Manufacturers Association of Israel and between 1963 and 1965, he served as the Association's president. Levi died in 1975. |
