Amos Gitai (1950-) is one of the most important contemporary Israeli filmmakers in Israel. In 1980 he directed his first film "House", and late on he directed a series of documentary films, many of them trilogies, dealing with the political situation in Israel. He also directed feature films based on historical events and adaptations of works of Israeli literature. Amos Gitai has received many international awards. The archive comprises his drafts, written scenes, and different documentation of his film work.

Biographical summary עמוס גיתאי הוא מבכירי הקולנוענים הישראלים הפעילים כיום. נולד ב-11 באוקטובר 1950 בחיפה. בוגר הפקולטה לאדריכלות בטכניון. בשנת 1980 ביים את סרטו הראשון, "בית", בהפקת הטלוויזיה הישראלית. לאחר סרט זה החל גיתאי ברצף של בימוי סרטים תיעודיים, רבים מהם בטרילוגיות, העוסקים במצב הפוליטי במדינת ישראל. לצד אלה, ביים סרטים עלילתיים המבוססים על אירועים היסטוריים וכן עיבודים ליצירות ספרות ישראליות. עמוס גיתאי חיבר ספרים אחדים וכן יסד את מוזיאון מוניו גיתאי וינרויב לאדריכלות בעיר חיפה, המנציח את עבודתו האדריכלית של אביו. עמוס גיתאי זכה בפרסים בינלאומיים רבים.
Amos Gitai is one of the most important contemporary Israeli filmmakers in Israel. He was born in Haifa on October 11, 1950 and graduated from the faculty of architecture at the Technion. In 1980 he directed his first film "House" which was produced by Israeli television. Following this film Gitai directed a series of documentary films, many of them trilogies, dealing with the political situation in Israel. He also directed feature films based on historical events and adaptations of works of Israeli literature. Amos Gitai has written a number of books and founded the Munio Gitai Weinräub Museum in Haifa, which commemorates his father's architectural work. Amos Gitai has received many international awards.
