Jamal Sisters Tour in India [Album of photographs]
Enlarge text Shrink textDescription
118 black & white silver prints in various sizes, which were mounted on black carton pages, as part of an album documenting the Jamal Twins tour in India, during the years 1955-1957. Later, these photographs were separated from the pages. Except many portraits of the Jamal sisters, these photographs document their performances, mainly in Bombay (Mumbai) and in Calcutta. Some photographs show the two sisters' performance at the set of the Indian motion picture " "Yahoodi ki Ladki", directed by S. D. Narang - a scene which eventually was cut out from the film due to censorship requirements.
