David Rubinger (1924-2017), one of the important press photographers who worked in the State of Israel in the first decades of its existence. Born in Vienna, Austria, on June 29, 1924. Immigrated to Israel in 1939. In the years 1942-1945 he served in the British Army, as part of the Jewish Brigade. Between the years 1954-2001 he was an official photographer for the American weekly TIME and also photographed independently for newspaper in Israel and around the world. In 1997 Rubinger won the Israel Prize for communication The archive mainly includes silver prints from black and white photographs created by David Rubinger between 1950-1999 as well as some correspondence and personal certificates.

דוד רובינגר נולד בעיר וינה, אוסטריה, ב-29 ביוני 1924. עלה לארץ ישראל בשנת 1939. בשנים 1942-1945 שירת בצבא הבריטי, במסגרת הבריגדה היהודית (חי"ל). בין השנים 1954-2001 היה צלם רשמי של מערכת השבועון האמריקני Time וכן צילם באופן עצמאי עבור מערכות עיתונים בישראל ובעולם. רובינגר היה אחד מצלמי העיתונות החשובים שפעלו במדינת ישראל בעשורים הראשונים לקיומה. על פועלו בשדה צילום העיתונות הוא זכה בפרס ישראל לתקשורת לשנת תשנ"ז (1997). בשנת 1999 מכר רובינגר את כל ארכיון התצלומים שלו לרשות "ידיעות אחרונות". דוד רובינגר נפטר בירושלים, ב-2 במארס 2017. |
