Title |
Kfar Shalem, situated in the South of Tel-Aviv, is perhaps an area of the city that the city council would rather forget about. |
---|---|
Scope and content |
It is one of the poorest parts of Tel-Aviv, neglected and run down. Many of its citizens are poor and old and thus unable to fight for better living conditions. Eli Ben Menachem, a member of Israel's parliament who himself is originally from Kfar Shalem, has always fought to have more funds directed to this part of the city to improve housing, which is often dilapidated, and public services. Today Ben Menachem invited Natan Sheranskiy, in Sharansky's capacity as head of the Russian Immigrants Association, to visit Kfar Shalem to see if he thought that some of the expect¬ed new Russian immigrants might be settled in Kfar Shalem in the coming few years. Such a move would encourage new building and renovation of old ones. Photo shows: Eli Ben Menachem. |
