Prof. Dan Miron (1934-), one of the foremost scholars of Hebrew literature. He translated many plays into Hebrew, was chief editor of the Mossad Bialik publishing house and in 1993, received the prestigious Israel Prize for the study of Hebrew Literature for 1993. The archive contains correspondence, manuscripts of his books and articles, personal documents and a variety of material created within the framework of his literary and scholarly activities.

Biographical summary דן מירון נולד בתל אביב, בשנת 1934. בין השנים 1953-1959 למד באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים ובאקדמיה למוסיקה. בין השנים 1964-1967 השלים את לימודיו לתואר דוקטור באוניברסיטת קולומביה, ניו יורק. בשנת 1970 מונה לפרופסור באוניברסיטת תל אביב וזמן קצר לאחר מכן לפרופסור באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים, שם הורה ספרות עברית. החל משנת 1971 הוא פרופסור גם באוניברסיטת קולומביה. מירון נודע כאחד מגדולי חוקריה של הספרות היהודית ומחקריו הרבים פורסמו בלשונות שונות, בישראל ובעולם. דן מירון תרגם מחזות רבים לעברית ונטל חלק חשוב במיזמים תרבותיים מגוונים. החל משנת 1984 מירון הוא העורך הראשי של הוצאת "מוסד ביאליק". על פועלו בחקר הספרות הוענקו לדן מירון פרסים ואותות הוקרה רבים, ובראשם פרס ישראל לחקר הספרות העברית לשנת תשנ"ג (1993).
