Biographical summary Claude Reignier Conder (Cheltenham, England 1848 - Cheltenham, England 1910) was a British soldier in the Royal Engineer Corps, an explorer and an antiquarian. He was appointed head of Palestine Exploration Fund's survey of Western Palestine between 1872-4 and worked for the PEF from 1875-8 and in the next decade. He joined the British army expedition to Egypt in 1882 to subdue Ahmad Arabi's rebellion.
Ownership history Different parts of the collection was deposited in the National Library at various times either by Eliahu Elath himself or through other people.
