The 1921 Jaffa riots were a seires violent acts erupted in Jaffa and its neighboring area in May 1st, 1921, against the Jewish Yishuv. The collection includes protocols of the investigations, summaries and reports made by the inquiry commision regarding the riots, ordered by the Zionist management in Eretz Israel and edited by the lawyer Dr. Mordecai Eliash, the legal counsel of the National Committee and before that a member of the Zionist Management in Eretz Israel and secretary of the Zionist Commission. Some of the materials are handwritten by Dr. Eliash in English.

האוסף כולל פרוטוקולים של חקירות, סיכומים ודו"חות שהוכנו בידי עורך-דין ד"ר מרדכי עליאש, בהזמנת ההנהלה הציונית בארץ ישראל, במסגרת ועדת חקירה לעניין פרעות תרפ"א - מאורעות הדמים שפרצו ביפו וסביבותיה, ב-1 במאי 1921. חלק מן החומר הוא בכתב ידו של ד"ר עליאש, באנגלית.

Biographical summary עורך-דין ד"ר מרדכי עליאש (1892-1950) היה היועץ המשפטי של הוועד הלאומי, ולפני כן, חבר בכיר בהנהלה הציונית בארץ ישראל ומזכיר ועד הצירים. במסגרת תפקידו זה, מונה לאחר פרעות תרפ"א לנהל את המשפטים שנוהלו כנגד גורמים שונים שהיו מעורבים בפרעות, וכן לנהל את ועדת החקירה שהוקמה לבדיקתן. עו"ד עליאש היה מבכירי המשפטנים ביישוב העברי בארץ ישראל. בשנת 1949 מונה לתפקיד ציר ישראל הראשון בבריטניה, ונפטר שם במהלך מילוי תפקידו.
Ownership history האוסף הופקד לצמיתות בספרייה הלאומית בסוף שנות העשרים של המאה העשרים על ידי ד"ר מרדכי עליאש עצמו, ונרשם לראשונה בפנקסי הספרייה בשנת 1937.
