The collection includes six different manuscripts of plays, novels and philosophical writings by the Jewish-German author Samuel Lublinski. Among these works is the unpublished book "Das Christosproblem": 999 pages of a German manuscript of a philosophical essay. Some of these manuscripts are typescripts with the author's notes in ink.

Biographical summary |
Samuel Lublinski was born in 1868 in Pisz, Poland (than: Johannisburg, East Prussia) to a Jewish family of merchants. Lublinski left gymanium early, travelled to Italy and in 1887 began working for antiqarian booksellers in Verona and Venice. In 1892 Lublinski returned to Germany and setteled in Heidelberg as a bookseller. In 1895 he went to Berlin and became there a journalist and a writer. At the turn of the century, Lublinski published several books and articles which made him a notable literary critic in Berlin. From 1897 onwards Lublinski focused on the Jewish question from the Zionist perespective. Samuel Lublinski died in December 1910 in Weimar. |

Parts of this collection were first presented to the Jewish National and University Library in April 1935 by Ida Lublinski (1862-1942), Samuel Lublinski's widow. Most of this collection was permanently deposited at the Jewish National and University Library in November 1972 by Cord Christian Troebst, Hamburg. |
