Yehuda Cohen (1861-1935), an Ukrainian Jewish poet and author from the town Ozeryany, which made a living by leasing and managing agricultural farms while writing in Hebrew. His archive includes manuscripts of his works and translations, including a large autobiographical essay, a few correspondences with literary editors who worked with him in Galicia, eulogies and a short biography about him.

יהודה כהן (פסבדונים: בן ח"ץ) נולד בשנת 1861 בעיר יז'רז'אני, גליציה המזרחית (Jezierzany), כיום: אוקראינה. כהן התחנך בבית סבו, הרב מרדכי זיידמאן, שהיה רב הקהילה. מגיל צעיר התבלט כשרונו הספרותי, והוא החל בתרגום שירה וספרות יפה מגרמנית לעברית כבר בנעוריו. ספוריו ושיריו של יהודה כהן התפרסמו בכתבי עת ספרותיים שונים, ובמיוחד בכתב העת "המצפה" שיצא לאור בעיר קרקוב, בעריכת שמעון מנחם לזר. מרבית חייו התפרנס יהודה כהן מחכירת אחוזות וניהול חוות חקלאיות באיזור מגוריו. יהודה כהן מת באחוזתו שבכפר סטרילצ'ה, אוקראינה, בשנת 1935. |
