האוסף כולל דברי דפוס שונים אשר הופקו על ידי ארגונים ציוניים ברחבי רוסיה, ובעיקר בבירה פטרבורג - פטרוגרד, סמוך לימי המהפכה הבולשביקית ולאחריה. מרבית הפריטים באוסף זה מתייחסים אל תנועת "החלוץ". כל הפריטים באוסף נאספו על ידי שלמה בן זאב כהנוב, מראשי תנועת "החלוץ" ברוסיה, אשר הבריח את הגבול בשנת 1924 ועלה לארץ ישראל בראש קבוצת חלוצים, בהם גם אליהו אילת (אפשטיין).
