Biographical summary |
Dr. Miriam Freund-Rosenthal (Miriam K. Freund) was national president of Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, from 1956 until 1960. She was born in 1906 in New York City. In 1936 she earned her PhD from New York University. Dr. Freund-Rosenthal persuaded the artist Marc Chagall to create the stained glass windows for a the Hadassah Hospital synagogue in Ein Karem, Jerusalem. Freund-Rosenthal endowed Hadassah educational seminars in the United States and Israel and was active in various Zionist organizations in the U.S. Miriam Freund-Rosenthal died in January 1999 at her home in Miami Beach. |
