אוסף גזרי העתונים וקטעי עתונים הסטוריים מורכב מפריטים בודדים שנאספו ושנתקבלו בספרייה הלאומית במשך עשרות שנים. האוסף כולל גליונות בודדים של עתונים שראו אור במאות התשע עשרה והעשרים, ובהם דיווחים על אירועים הסטוריים, כמו לדוגמה הקמת מדינת ישראל; אוספים קטנים של מאמרים וכתבות מאת סופרים שונים ובנושאים מסויימים; גליונות מזכרת חגיגיים, ועוד. מרבית הפריטים באוסף לקוחים מתוך העתונות העברית. כמו-כן, האוסף מכיל קטעים מתוך עתונות יהודית, בעיקר ברוסית, יידיש, אנגלית וגרמנית, וכן פריטים בודדים מתוך עתונות העולם.
