Yitzhak Samonov (1888-1950), grandson of Rabbi Chaim Berlin, secretary of the Committee for the Jews of Jerusalem, president of the Jerusalem chamber of B'nai B'rith and the first assistant state attorney of Israel. His collection includes correspondences, legal files and circular letters.

Biographical summary יצחק סמונוב נולד בשנת 1888 במחוז קורלנד, לטביה, למשפחת רבנים (סבו היה הרב חיים ברלין ואבי-סבו היה הנצי"ב מוולז'ין). נשא לאשה את איטה שניאורסון, נכדתו של ה"צמח צדק". בשנת 1919 עבר לאנגליה, שם למד משפטים והוסמך כעורך דין. בשנת 1925 עלה סמונוב עם רעייתו לארץ ישראל, והתיישב בירושלים. סמונוב שימש בשורה של תפקידים ציבוריים, ובהם מזכיר ועד הקהילה ליהודי ירושלים ונשיא לשכת בני ברית בירושלים. בשנת 1948, עם קום המדינה, מונה לתפקיד עוזר פרקליט המדינה. יצחק סמונוב נפטר בירושלים, בערב ו' אלול תש"י (18 באוגוסט 1950).
Ownership history האוסף הופקד לצמיתות בספרייה הלאומית בשנת 1987 על ידי קרובת משפחתו, רעיית פרופ' פסח שנער.
