Getzel Kressel (1911-1986), a pioneer of Eretz-Israeli bibliography in the modern period and a chronicler of the early Hebrew press. researched and wrote about the history of the Yishuv, mostly regarding its literature and press. Kressel developed the Hebrew bio-bibliography. The archive includes biographic materials of different personnel.

Biographical summary
גצל קרסל נולד בשנת 1911 בזלוטוב שבגליציה המזרחית, ובשנת 1930 עלה לארץ ישראל. עבד תחילה בפרדסנות עד שהחל לכתוב תחת דב סדן מאמרים על קורותיהם של גדולי האומה. היה מחלוצי הביבליוגרפיה הארצישראלית בעת החדשה, ומתעד העיתונות העברית המוקדמת. חקר וכתב על תולדות היישוב בארץ, בעיקר כמשתקף מהספרות העממית והעיתונות. קרסל פיתח את הענף העברי של הביו ביבליוגרפיה. בשנת 1968 זכה בפרס ביאליק לחכמת ישראל.
