Biographical summary
Abraham Galanté (Bodrum, Turkey 1873 - Istanbul 1961), Turkish-Jewish historian, philologist, and poltician, was appointed professor at the university of Istanbul in 1914.
Ownership history
The archive was permanently deposited in the National Library by the Ben Tzvi Institute in April 1969. Previously it was kept in the Chief Rabbinate of Turkey.
Language Note
The material is mostly in French, some texts are in Turkish (in Arabic letters), Italian, Hebrew and Arabic.
