Saul Ginsburg (1866-1940), historian of Russian Jewry, editor, publisher, and lawyer. He published extensively on questions of the phenomenon of cantonists and related topics. Actively participated in the Hovevei Zion movement. The collection consists of documents relating to Saul Ginsburg's professional experience, materials relating to his research activities, correspondence, diaries, personal papers, photos, clippings.

Biographical summary שאול גינזבורג (1866, מינסק - 1940, ניו יורק) היה היסטוריון חשוב וחלוצי של יהדות רוסיה לדורותיה, עורך ומבקר ספרות, עסקן ציבורי ועורך דין. כתב, ואף ערך והוציא לאור כתבי עת רבים ברוסית, ביידיש ובעברית. על אף שלא היה בקי במוזיקה, גינזבורג היה שותף לפסח מארק בהוצאה חלוצית של קובץ אנתולוגי-אתנוגרפי של שירי עם יהודיים ביידיש. עיקר פרסומו והשפעתו לדורות קנה גינזבורג כהיסטוריון חשוב וכארכיונאי שקדן של יהדות מזרח אירופה לדורותיה. שורה ארוכה של מחקריו משמשים את חוקרי התחום עד ימינו, והם מהווים אוצר בלום לא רק בשל ניתוחיו וסקירותיו של גינזבורג, אלא בעיקר בשל היותם מקור מחקרי למאגרים נידחים ונשכחים של חומרים ראשוניים ותעודות מקוריות.
Saul Ginsburg (1866, Minsk - 1940, New York) was an essential and pioneering historian of Russian Jewry, editor and literary critic, public activist, and lawyer. He has written, edited, and published numerous Russian, Yiddish, and Hebrew journals. Although not versed in music, Ginsburg was a partner of Pesach Marek in a pioneering publication of an anthological-ethnographic file of Jewish folk songs in Yiddish. Most of his fame and influence for generations was acquired by Ginsburg as a historian and diligent archivist of Eastern European Jewry. Researchers in the field use a long line of his research. They constitute a treasure trove because of Ginsburg's analyses and reviews and mainly because they are a research source for remote and forgotten repositories of primary materials and original materials certificates.
