Toviyya Friedman (1922-2011) was born in Radom, Poland. After the Holocaust, in which he lost many family members, he decided to dedicate his life for finding Nazi officers and activists and prosecute them. In 1952 he made an Aliyah to Haifa, where he founded a branch of Yad Vashem and managed it for three years. In 1957, Friedman founded the Institute for the Documentation of Nazi War Crimes, where most of his activities were done. His personal archive was deposited to the National Library of Israel in 2008. It includes a large card index, documents and photographs from Nazi Germany, newspaper clips regarding the Eichmann trial, a vast correspondence, different drafts, Honorary certificates, biographical materials and reviews.

Biographical summary טוביה פרידמן נולד בראדום שבפולין ב-1922. לאחר השואה, בה איבד חלק ממשפחתו, החליט להקדיש את חייו לאיתור קצינים ופעילים מהמפלגה הנאצית ולהעמדתם לדין. ב-1946 הקים בווינה את "המרכז לתיעוד יהודי" אשר שימש בסתר לאיתור פושעי מלחמה נאצים. במקביל, סייע לארגון ההגנה להשגת נשק ואחרי קום המדינה סייע להעלאת הרצל לישראל. עלה ארצה ב-1952 והקים וניהל את סניף יד ושם בחיפה. ב-1957 הקים את המכון לדוקומנטציה בישראל לחקר פעולות הפושעים הנאציים. בין השאר, סייע המכון בתפיסת אדולף אייכמן. טוביה פרידמן נפטר ב-2011 בחיפה.
