Biographical summary יוחנן לוי היה חוקר תולדות תקופת הבית השני, בלשן ישראלי וחתן פרס ישראל במדעי הרוח לשנת תשי"ז. נולד בברלין בשנת 1901. למד באוניברסיטת ברלין ושם סיים את הדוקטורט בשנת 1926. במקביל ללימודיו האוניברסיטאיים, למד בבית המדרש הגבוה ללימודי יהדות בברלין. לוי היה ציוני משחר נעוריו ועלה לארץ ישראל בשנת 1934. לימד באוניברסיטה העברית שפה וספרות רומית. נפטר בירושלים, ב-20 ביולי 1945, י"ב באב תש"ה.
Ownership history הארכיון הופקד לצמיתות בספרייה הלאומית בשנת 1951 על ידי אלמנתו של יוחנן לוי, גב' מרים לוי.
