Biographical summary |
Friedrich Thieberger (Gocuv Jenikov CZ 1888-Jerusalem 1958), an historian, Jewish scholar, writer and translator. Kafka's Hebrew teacher and Jiri Langer's translator. Son of rabbi, he became modern language teacher in Prague gymnasia. After Buber's 1910 visit to Prague he wrote extensively on Jewish religious philosophy. Active in Bnai Brith & editor of CZ month (in German). Left CZ in 1939 & became Bnai Brith librarian in Jerusalem. |
