Biographical summary 12 November 1818 in Mořina
– 8 October 1891 in Vienna. Physician and writer. Studied in Prague and Vienna, in 1851 was invited to Teheran by the Persian government to serve as professor of anatomy and surgery. In 1856 was appointed court physician to Sha Nasr el Din. Returned in Vienna in 1860 and was associated at the general hospital. Also lectured in Persian at the University. Wrote treatises on medicine in Persian and compiled a medical dictionary in Persian, Arabic and Latin. He was also involved in activity on behalf of Persian Jewry.
Ownership history The archive was purchased in 1984 from Dr. Lionel Kochan, Oxford, together with the the archives of Adolf Büchler and Adolf Neubauer.
