Biographical summary יוסל בירשטיין, סופר ומשורר, נולד בפולין בשנת 1920. בגיל 17 היגר לאוסטרליה. במלחמת העולם השנייה שירת בצבא האוסטרלי. בשנת 1950 עלה לישראל והתיישב בקיבוץ גבת, שם היה רועה צאן. במשך שנים רבות התגורר בירשטיין בירושלים ועבד במחלקה לכתבי יד וארכיונים בספרייה הלאומית.
