Description

The file contains:;a) an autograph letter of four pages written in Montpellier on 9 September 1789 to "Monsieur" concerning the efficiency and the value of a factory.;b) an autograph letter of two pages written in Montpellier on 7 May 1790 to Baron Philippe-Frédéric de Dietrich, mayor of Strassbourg, concerning a work by Chaptal which he sent in several copies to de Dietrich. In the upper left corner a remark concerning the answer of de Dietrich, possibly in his handwriting.;c) an autograph letter of three pages written in Montpellier in 1794/1795 to Picot de Lapeyrouse in Toulouse concerning the production of vinegar and other scientific matters of Chaptal's interest. In addition, there is a typed trascription of this letter.;d) "Observations": a manuscript of four pages without place, date, and signature concerning a prize in sciences.;e) an autograph draft of the Napoleonic decree concerning the prize for dyeing wool with madder, 1810.
